Project Summary
The Senior Cloud Developer serves as a technical architect and security gatekeeper for an AWS cloud hosting platform, ensuring its readiness to support containerized applications and automated deployment pipelines. This role focuses on building secure, compliant, and scalable cloud environments using “security‑by‑design” principles, while driving platform governance and maintaining accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement cloud infrastructure and migrate existing on‑premises applications into AWS.
Analyze applications and provide recommendations for cloud platform selection, migration, deployment, and optimization.
Design strategies for failure/recovery, cost optimization, and evaluation of cloud, cloud‑agnostic, and on‑premises solutions.
Manage policies for cloud service usage and new technology requests while ensuring a secure cloud operating environment.
Ensure uptime and availability design meets mission and performance needs.
Independently design and develop new cloud software solutions or major enhancements to existing applications.
Debug cloud stacks and manage platform infrastructure and services.
Enforce platform governance aligned to compliance frameworks, including Security Assessment and Authorization (SAA).
Maintain ATO compliance and drive remediation of security findings across infrastructure, platform, and application components.
Required For This Opportunity
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of cloud development or cloud engineering experience. Will consider 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
Strong experience with AWS cloud architecture, containerized applications, and cloud service delivery models.
Expertise in DevSecOps practices with automation tools (GitLab and GitLab Runners), including securing CI/CD pipelines.
Hands‑on experience with container orchestration and security practices (AWS EKS).
Experience implementing least privileged access and Zero Trust security principles.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), such as Terraform, for automating platform services.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Top Secret clearance required.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with container security tools (Aqua Security, Nessus, ACSA) for image scanning and vulnerability remediation.
Background in cloud failure/recovery design and cost optimization strategies.
Experience supporting cloud systems through SAA, ATO, or similar accreditation processes.
