The Role

Description
Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center, Warren MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role - As a member of the Battery Raw Materials Center of Excellence (BRM CoE), you will be part of building a strong, sustainable battery EV supply chain to support our fast-growing EV production needs.
Specifically, you'd be part of the Cathode Active Materials Team. This includes securing a specific portion of Battery Raw Materials and actively leading the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies based on business, market, and technology trends and establish strong and competitive supply base
  • Responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, budget execution.
  • Optimize supply performance by analyzing and applying appropriate tools including benchmarking, cost and value chain analysis, negotiations, supply chain analysis
  • Work closely with cross functional partners internally and externally to trade off imperatives and identify creative solutions, incl during RFQ management, Procure to Pay, order fulfillment, customer satisfaction, and supplier relationship management
  • Drive for winning outcomes that are focused on the mission of the business
  • Develop and manage great supplier relationships
  • Provide pro-active communication and resolution of issues
  • Develop protection of supply and contingency plans


Additional Description

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field required
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and problem-solve
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders as well as building relationships internally & externally
  • Experience procuring Direct Materials highly desirable
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Experience in contract drafting, redlining, and working cross functionally with legal
  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Adept at engaging and presenting to Senior Executives, tailoring to the audience
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and apply deep cost knowledge
  • Knowledge of procurement and materials software, as well as MS software applications
  • Experience managing and negotiating commercial issues with suppliers
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within time constraints
