Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior BI Engineer to join our data team. In this role, you'll drive strategic insights through the development of robust data models, dashboards, and analytics solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—engineering, product, data engineering, and operations—to translate business needs into scalable and impactful data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data models using SQL, Python, dbt, or other data transformation tools.
Partner with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical requirements and data solutions.
Define and implement data governance, quality checks, and validation frameworks to ensure reliability and accuracy of insights.
Mentor junior analysts and engineers, and help establish best practices around data modeling, reporting, and analytics.
Collaborate with data engineers to enhance the data warehouse/lake architecture, ensuring high performance and scalability.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve decision-making and operational efficiency through data.
Conduct data analysis to uncover trends and identify gaps aligned with product team insights and objectives.
Capable of designing and building infrastructure from the ground up.
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision from leadership.
Skills and Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in BI, data engineering, or analytics roles.
Proficiency in SQL and at least one modern BI tool (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau).
Experience with data modeling techniques (e.g., star/snowflake schema, Kimball methodology).
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Kestra, Prefect).
Strong analytical thinking and business acumen.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in cloud data ecosystems such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks.
Industry experience in Retail is preferred.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Python or another scripting language for data processing.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
Knowledge of data privacy, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
