Job Description

We're supporting a mission-driven platform in the pet care space that’s using technology to improve outcomes for pet owners, shelters, and veterinarians. The project involves building scalable backend services, APIs, and data systems that support web and mobile features—like user profiles, third-party integrations, scheduling tools, and personalization. The role is senior-level, focused on .NET backend development, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and maintainable solutions that drive real user value.

 What You’ll Do 

• Design, build, and optimize RESTful APIs and services using C#, ASP.NET Core, and EF Core on our Azure cloud platform. 
• Implement and maintain scalable backend architecture that supports our growing user base and partner ecosystems. 
• Integrate with third-party APIs like Google Places, vet systems, and payment processors. 
• Leverage Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and Headless CMS solutions to power personalization and dynamic content delivery. 
• Collaborate with front-end engineers, designers (via Figma), and product managers to deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences. 
• Ensure performance, security, and compliance standards are met across all services. 
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and agile development processes using Git, PRs, and Azure DevOps. 
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve backend bugs and performance issues. 
• Stay current with backend development trends and recommend new tools, technologies, and approaches. 

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience using C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and RESTful API architecture. 
• Familiarity with Azure Cosmos No-SQL DB. 
• 2+ years of experience deploying, debugging, maintaining, and optimizing various Azure cloud services. 
• Familiarity with Visual Studio 2022. 
• Deep understanding of scalable database design, optimization, and cloud-based deployment (e.g. Azure, AWS). 
• Proficiency with Git, version control, and CI/CD workflows. 
• Familiarity with agile storyboarding and sprint management tools like Azure DevOps or Jira. 
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, design patterns, and testing frameworks. 
• Experience integrating with external services and APIs (e.g., Google Places, veterinary platforms, etc.). 

Nice to Have's:

• Experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), Headless CMS, or content personalization, Data Warehouse, or Pet/Vet software. 
• Familiarity with Angular and TypeScript or a willingness to collaborate with front-end developers.
