The Senior Assignment Editor plays a pivotal role in orchestrating the editorial and logistical aspects of assignments for multimedia journalists, reporters, and photographers. This position is responsible for implementing the editorial strategy, assigning stories to field teams, and overseeing logistics for news coverage and special events. Key responsibilities include the planning logistics of the team, script approval, live content oversight, assisting in newsgathering, and collaboration across Televisa Univision platforms.
YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)
- Lead the assignment desk team during breaking and developing news stories.
- Collaborate with newsroom managers and producers to plan and adjust coverage as events unfold.
- Generate and pitch innovative ideas to enhance newsroom operations and efficiency.
- Ensure the editorial accuracy and proper sourcing of news content.
- Develop comprehensive coverage plans for major events, including setting up effective control room communication protocols and distributing information to relevant teams.
- Strategize and organize the optimal use of resources.
- Coordinate with reporters, technical crews, and the satellite desk to ensure thorough coverage.

YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a local or national newsroom setting.
- Strong background in field production and news coverage, with experience in live news gathering across the U.S.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively, especially during breaking news situations.
