People Insights is a Center of Excellence (CoE) that enables TWDC Human Resource leadership to attract, engage, and retain talent through compelling and actionable People Analytics. We integrate and transform organizational, HR, and Talent Acquisition data into a unified BI portfolio that empowers clients to build compelling stories about our most valuable resource: people.
As a Senior Report Engineer (PH), you will bring your natural passion for working with data to a team that enables data-driven HR strategy! In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining objects within Snowflake to support end users through reports, dashboards, and other solutions focused on our Studios businesses. This role requires a solid understanding of Snowflake architecture, SQL, and data visualization tools.
What You Will Do
The Engineering team designs and builds data systems that collect, validate, and consolidate raw workforce lifecycle data into a usable format to allow for better decision making. The team makes data accessible for HR analytics partners, product developers and data scientists in secured data stores and builds and maintains data pipelines for high-quality, reliable data modeled to meet the needs of the data consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Snowflake objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions to support reporting requirements
- Use programming languages to compile complex data into a format that reporting tools can efficiently handle
- Apply advanced knowledge of data warehouse structures/models and design principles to optimize data extraction and transformation
- Translate report requirements into technical specifications for data model builds and report construction
- Identify opportunities to improve query performance, data loading processes, and overall system efficiency within Snowflake
- Continuous optimization and fine-tuning of reports and reporting processes for improved performance
- Build and automate data pipelines that cleanse and combine information from disparate sources
- Consult with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, to deliver data pipelines that efficiently render in reporting tools
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deeply understand the business needs & outcomes
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, business analysts, and data scientists to deliver impactful reporting solutions
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of report specifications, data models/design decisions, and reporting use cases to ensure knowledge transfer and support continuity
- Provide training and support to end users on accessing and interpreting solutions to ensure successful adoption and utilization of tools
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years proven experience in report engineering, data management, data engineering, business intelligence or related
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or related field or 7+ years equivalent work experience
- Expertise in scripting languages such as SQL and Python, and experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms
- Experience developing reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos and agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Git)
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Effectively handle and maintain confidential information
- Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HR data, systems, and processes (e.g. Workday, SAP)
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies
The hiring range for this position in Burbank is $113,600-$138,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. This position can be located near any Disney Hub (Burbank, CA or Orlando, FL) with potential opportunities for remote work.
