  • Analyzes insurance contracts to ensure provisions are applied correctly. Evaluates each claim for appropriateness of payment, denial, calculation of benefits, etc.

  • Bilingual in English and French languages

  • Requests and reviews all necessary information to assess each claim.

  • Communicates with the insured routinely to provide statuses and provide updates as needed.

  • Accurately inputs pertinent information into the appropriate claim system and processes in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Claim handling should be thorough, understandable and properly documented.

  • Insurance regulations must be adhered to as required and internal service level standards met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two or more years of claims handling experience, preferably handling Living Benefit claims, such as Disability Income, Critical Illness and Disability Waiver or Premium claims.

  • Knowledge of basic computer systems such as word processing, emails, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Aptitude for learning new computer systems.

  • Experience working with appropriate claims processing procedures and documentation, and experience with administrative procedures, legislative requirements, and medical principles as they relate to examination and approval of  Living Benefits  insurance claims

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of disability and life insurance preferable.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members

  • Ability to keep sensitive and confidential material private

  • Ability to work in a team environment
