Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and optimize RDS MySQL databases; provide support for Redshift where applicable.
Handle production support, including incident response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of data platforms.
Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Partner with Data Engineers to support data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and schema design.
Assist in building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines for data platform automation.
Collaborate with security and governance teams to ensure compliance with data policies and regulations.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across the data platform.
Provide hands-on support for new projects and migrations, bridging DBA responsibilities with data engineering needs.
Required Qualifications
8–10+ years of experience in database administration and data platform engineering.
Strong experience with RDS MySQL (or equivalent relational DBMS in cloud environments).
Solid understanding of SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
Experience supporting production environments, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and automation practices.
Ability to collaborate with Data Engineering teams to support pipelines, models, and data products.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with Amazon Redshift administration and optimization.
Exposure to Matillion or Fivetran for data integration.
Familiarity with Bitbucket for CI/CD and version control.
Knowledge of OpenFlow or other orchestration/workflow tools.
Background in data governance, metadata management, and compliance frameworks.
