A Brief Overview
The Senior Analyst - Finance Functional Systems serves as a functional subject matter expert (SME) for key Finance domains and leads the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday Financials. This role drives complex enhancements, leads testing cycles, resolves high impact issues, and partners with business stakeholders to improve end to end financial processes. The senior analyst provides deep functional expertise and ensures ERP supports accurate, efficient, and scalable financial operations.
This role requires hands on Workday configuration experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to independently design and implement functional solutions.

What you will do

  • Functional Expertise and Advisory:

  • Serve as SME for core Workday finance domains.

  • Provide expert guidance on end to end processes, financial controls, and ERP capabilities.

  • Ensure alignment with the ERP data model, including FDM and Account Posting Rules.

  • System Governance and Intake Management:

  • Translate business needs into detailed configuration specifications, functional designs, and testable requirements.

  • Maintain high‑quality documentation including functional specs, configuration notes, test scripts, SOPs, and process flows.

  • Support governance processes including change control, release readiness, and audit documentation.

  • Configuration Quality and Controls Oversight:

  • Lead configuration of complex business processes, validations, posting rules, condition logic, and reporting structures.

  • Validate posting rules, business process flows, accounting results, and reporting logic before deployment.

  • Perform deep root‑cause analysis and implement durable fixes that prevent recurrence.

  • Resolve high complexity issues involving accounting data, integrations, or workflow behavior.

  • Support configuration, testing, and functional ownership of other Finance Controller’s Office systems assigned to the Business Systems team, alongside Workday Financials.

  • Functional Delivery & Roadmap Execution:

  • Own functional delivery for enhancements, releases, and change requests.

  • Lead full testing cycles including test planning, script creation, execution oversight, and defect resolution.

  • Identify process inefficiencies across general ledger, procure to pay, order to cash, record to report, Payroll, grants, gifts, Business assets and project Management workflows.

  • Recommend and implement automation, redesign, or configuration improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.

  • Cross‑Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Management:

  • Partner with IT on integration, security, and technical escalations.

  • Partner with Accounting, AP, Payroll, Procurement, HR, Finance, Grants, Fixed Assets, Projects, Treasury, and IT teams to ensure system changes support business objectives.

  • Influence stakeholders by presenting options, impact analysis, and recommendations in clear business terms.

  • Act as a liaison between business teams and technical partners to ensure alignment on requirements and outcomes.

  • Release Management & Business Readiness:

  • Support release readiness activities including testing, documentation, and communication.

  • Validate configuration and testing outcomes prior to deployment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of Five (5) years of hands on Workday Financials configuration experience.

  • Demonstrated experience configuring Workday business processes, accounting center, allocation and financial frameworks, security groups.

  • Demonstrated experience developing Workday advanced and composite Workday reports, calculated fields, and analytics datasets.

  • Experience leading Workday enhancements, requirement gathering, functional design, and UAT cycles.

  • Experience supporting general ledger, procure to pay, order to cash, record to report, period close, grants, gifts, business assets and project management.

  • Experience with Workday release management, regression testing, and impact analysis.

  • Experience collaborating with Accounting, Procurement, Payroll, and IT on cross functional initiatives.

  • Experience supporting or implementing multiple finance systems in addition to Workday, including participation in system upgrades or new deployments.

  • Deep knowledge of Workday Financial.

  • Ability to design and configure complex Workday solutions with minimal guidance.

  • Ability to build Workday advanced reports and analytics datasets.

  • Ability to diagnose complex functional issues and lead root cause analysis.

  • Ability to lead cross functional discussions and influence stakeholders.

  • Strong documentation skills (functional designs, test scripts, configuration notes).

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder influencing skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and release cycles.

  • Ability to operate in a multi‑system environment and understand how additional tools integrate with Workday and Finance processes.

  • Familiarity of AIdriven tools that enhance financial processes and data accuracy.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $62.75 - $83.16 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
