The Role
Leads mechanical fabrication shop projects from quoting through delivery, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, customer communication, and continuous improvement. Develops bills of materials, material quotes, process definitions, CNC and machining documentation, work instructions, and technical notes. Applies Six Sigma, Kaizen, and visual management practices while coordinating manufacturing, design, and cross-functional teams. Provides GD&T and blueprint expertise, manages production problem-solving, supports customs documentation, and drives process development for conventional and CNC machining operations.

Position is accountable for the quoting, execution, on time delivery and Quality of Mechanical Fabrication Shop projects. The applicant is responsible to create a positive work environment, continuous improvement, metrics driven and customer oriented culture and to lead problem solving processes in support of goals and objectives. This position requires to work within broad policies and corporate objectives. Work is multi-faceted and complex requiring coordination and integration. 

Responsibilities

Position is responsible for BoE generation for new projects and initiatives as needed and drive consistent execution. Apply six sigma tools to drive continuous improvement. Provide manufacturing feedback and lessons learn to Mechanical Design team. Drive deployment of HOS key initiatives such Kaizen, Tier accountability, RPS, Visual management and all applicable. Position is responsible for creation of bills of materials, quotes of materials, materials stock control, tools and processes definition. This role is also in charge of shop customs paperwork necessary for import export. Project Engineer also provides technical information and defines critical characteristics for projects. Position remains accountable for providing follow up during fabrication process and maintains customer communication. Position owns new process documentation on CNC equipment and conventional machining as well as tech notes and working instruction creation. 

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • BS Science in Mechanical Engineer or Engineering field with machining experience
  • Strong project engineering, analytic skills as well as a strong system engineering background
  • Ability to deal with high pressure complex technical, production, and regulatory issues in an objective manner, developing/executing cross functional plans based on sound technical decisions 
  • Outstanding ability on problem solving, project management, communication skills, team player, and change agent
  • Ability to work well with others and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality work under pressure situationS 
  • High degree of focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience on welding and conventional grinding, turning, milling and lathe machines 
  • CNC equipment operating-programming experience
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience in mechanical environment desirable
  • Remarkable ability on GD&T and Engineering blueprint reading, understanding and interpretation (GD&T Certified preferred)
  • 5 to 8 years of experience on CAM, CAD and PLM software (MasterCAM, NX and Teamcenter preferred)
  • Exceptional communication skills in English/Spanish (oral and writing)
  • Six Sigma (Green-Belt or Black-Belt a preferred
  • MS Office proficiency

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field with machining experience
  • Strong project engineering, analytical, and systems engineering skills
  • Ability to resolve complex technical, production, and regulatory issues through cross-functional plans
  • Project management, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and change-management skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality under pressure
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience with welding, grinding, turning, milling, and lathe operations
  • CNC equipment operation and programming experience
  • Five to eight years of experience with CAM, CAD, and PLM software
  • Strong GD&T and engineering blueprint reading, interpretation, and understanding
  • English and Spanish oral and written communication skills
  • Ten years of mechanical manufacturing experience
  • GD&T certification
  • MasterCAM, NX, and Teamcenter experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • MS Office proficiency
