The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing operational and general accounting, weekly direct employee payroll, and supporting accounts payable in a team-based environment that supports the Hobart, NY manufacturing facility. The position will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement in transactional processes and internal control compliance.
Essential Functions
Accounting & Finance Responsibilities
Manage the accounts payable process for the site, including invoice submission, PO compliance, vendor statement reviews, and ensuring timely processing by the Hobart team
Execute monthly close processes, preparing required financial reports, account reconciliations, and analyses
Handle operational and general accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies/procedures across the Hobart Plant
Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts by ensuring internal controls are documented and functioning effectively
Manage accounts payable, accruals, and expense reporting
Prepare variance reports, weekly reports, and month-end financial deliverables
Payroll Responsibilities
Oversee the direct payroll time system, ensuring all daily and weekly tasks are completed accurately and on time
Manage weekly payroll adjustments and submit them to corporate payroll for processing
Maintain the UKG system, updating employee records, pay rates, and other system changes
Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including taxes, wage and hour laws, and deductions
Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors by providing guidance on payroll policies and procedures
Lead weekly payroll orientation sessions for hourly, salaried, and salaried non-exempt employees
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Act as a change agent, identifying and driving process improvements within payroll and accounting operations
Partner with internal teams and auditors to support external/internal audit requests
Provide financial insights for cost reduction and savings projects
Participate in site-level meetings and cross-functional initiatives to support the broader manufacturing facility
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance required.
4+ years’ general accounting experience required.
Experience with cost accounting and expense budgeting.
Experience with enterprise systems such as SAP, JDE, BPCS, or other AS400 systems preferred.
Ability to interact positively with employees at all levels of the organization regarding accounting and finance.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast paced environment.
Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to identify, initiate and retain process improvements through various available tools and technology.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
Organizational Relationship/Scope:
This position reports directly to the Hobart Controller. This position will interact will all levels of management throughout the company and with non-exempt employees. The work environment is an office setting.

Working Conditions:
Location: Hobart, NY Facility
Hours 7:30am/8:30am to 4:30pm/5:30pm Hybrid (3-4 days/wk)
Must have the ability to work occasional overtime and holidays to process payroll (i.e. if Monday is company holiday)
Pay Transparency:
The expected base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including job-related knowledge, skills and experience. This position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable program. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion.
