Position Overview: 
The Solid Waste and Recycling Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing client relationships in the solid waste and recycling services sector. This role focuses on account retention through exceptional customer service, identifying opportunities to improve service efficiency, and handling key client issues. Additionally, the Account Manager will be tasked with developing new business opportunities, driving growth, and expanding the client base.


Key Responsibilities:

Account Retention & Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing clients, ensuring high satisfaction, and fostering long-term relationships.

  • Regularly meet with clients to assess needs, resolve concerns, and provide recommendations for optimizing solid waste and recycling programs.

  • Address client inquiries or issues related to service delivery, billing, and compliance in a timely manner.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of client accounts to ensure services are meeting expectations and contractual terms.

  • Monitor and ensure that clients are receiving consistent, high-quality services and that any issues are proactively addressed.

New Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing clients

  • Develop and execute strategies to increase market share by acquiring new clients for solid waste and recycling services.

  • Collaborate with the sales team to generate leads, qualify prospects, and close new business deals.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and contracts to potential clients.

  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking meetings to generate business leads and maintain industry relationships.

Customer Solutions & Program Optimization:

  • Analyze customer needs and design customized waste and recycling solutions to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure sustainability.

  • Educate clients about industry best practices, new recycling technologies, and regulations impacting waste management.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of all company products, services, and pricing to effectively sell and retain accounts.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth service execution and resolve any client service issues promptly.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system, including communication logs, account status, and contract renewals.

  • Provide regular updates to management on account status, revenue projections, and business development progress.

Sustainability and Compliance:

  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations regarding waste management, recycling, and environmental sustainability.

  • Ensure clients comply with all relevant regulations and provide guidance on how to meet sustainability goals through recycling and waste reduction strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in account management, sales, or customer service, preferably within the solid waste, recycling, or environmental services industry.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization.

  • Knowledge of solid waste and recycling industry trends, services, and best practices.

  • Proven ability to retain and grow client accounts, as well as generate new business.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (Salesforce, etc.).

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position with frequent travel required for client visits and business development activities in the Houston metro

  • Ability to work from home or in an office environment as required.
