Squad Lead SW Developer– Telenor Shared Services Portugal
Empowering Developers. Bridging Business and Technology.
We are hiring a Squad Lead to help scale our nearshore delivery from Portugal to the Nordics.
This is a hybrid role where you will combine team leadership with business growth. You will guide and support a squad of developers, while also working closely with our Nordic business units to match the right talent, grow trusted partnerships, and strengthen our cross-border delivery model.
Your new Role
As a Squad Lead, you will be responsible for:
Team Leadership: Lead and support a squad of developers based in Portugal, creating a high performing, engaged, and continuously improving team.
Business Partnering: Work closely with Nordic business units to understand their technical needs and help define the ideal team profiles to support them.
Hiring & Growth: Actively participate in recruitment processes and support the expansion of our development team in Portugal.
Training & Development: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, identifying development areas and promoting upskilling.
Project Oversight: Ensure successful project delivery by managing capacity, performance, and quality across engagements.
Agile Practices: Promote agile methodologies and drive a culture of feedback, collaboration, and iteration.
Client Collaboration: Be the bridge between our Portuguese teams and Nordic clients — ensuring alignment, clear communication, and long-term trust.
What You Need to Succeed
To succeed as a Squad Lead, we think you will need:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a team lead, squad lead, or tech management role.
Strong technical foundation and fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) and familiarity with relevant frameworks and tools.
Ability to speak both the language of business and the language of tech — turning business needs into scalable technical teams.
A strong motivation to transition from a hands-on technical role to one focused on people management and business development is essential
Experience with agile delivery and cross-border team collaboration.
Confidence to run interviews, evaluate talent, and help shape a growing team.
Excellent communication skills and full professional fluency in English.
