Job Responsibilities:
JOB DESCRIPTION: To supervise tool room team members in providing tool & die maintenance and repair in support of production operations and per customer specifications and requirements
  • Maintain the total preventative maintenance program for tools
  • Plan, evaluate, and organize the maintenance and repair of tooling to meet production requirements
  • Ensure that production operations are fully supported by tool room team members
  • Assure completion of engineering changes per customer specifications, as assigned
  • Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap
  • Participate in APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) process with engineering, tool design reviews in particular.
  • Assist in evaluation of tooling process for new programs
  • Train apprentice tool & die makers and machinists on skills associated with the trade and promote teamwork
  • Assure safe operation and maintenance of tool room equipment
  • Advise employees, contractors and visitors of any actual or potential danger to their safety or health, and ensure the necessary training and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
  • Cooperate with all local, state and federal agencies, such as OSHA or the EPA, in the event of an inspection.
  • Know, follow and enforce all applicable SH&E Policies and Procedures
  • Help manage Safety Performance Measurable s such as Incident Rate, Monthly Inspection Results and EOS scores. Overall performance to the measurable elements of our SH&E system are part of annual performance reviews
  • Perform Weekly Safety Meetings as defined by the Weekly Safety Topics Program

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4-year Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship
  • 4 years in the trade in addition to the 4-year apprenticeship
  • 2-4 years supervisory experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Prior automotive experience

SKILLS:
  • Good delegation and leadership skills required
  • Ability to read complex tool and die designs and prints
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to use precise measuring equipment
  • Excellent teamwork skills required
  • Individual must promote attention to safety
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
  • Toolroom machinery including: lathes, milling machine, surface grinders, drill press, saws; hand tools; overhead crane; forklift
  • Common office equipment (i.e. PC, copier, facsimile,etc.) Precise measuring equipment
