Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Camp, Sports & Enrichment Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all youth sports, adult sports, recreation programming, enrichment programs, special events, youth development initiatives, and summer camp operations at the Red Bank Family YMCA. This position is responsible for program development, staff leadership, financial performance, community engagement, risk management, and overall program quality and growth.

The Camp, Sports & Enrichment Director serves as the branch leader for sports, recreation, enrichment, and camp programming and is responsible for creating high-quality experiences that strengthen the community, increase participation, foster youth development, and promote healthy living. The position oversees a diverse portfolio of programs serving children, teens, adults, and families while ensuring all programs are safe, inclusive, mission-driven, and responsive to community needs.

  • Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and growth of all sports, recreation, enrichment, youth development, and summer camp programs at the Red Bank Family YMCA.
  • Serve as Director of the Red Bank YMCA Summer Camp, overseeing program planning, staffing, safety, compliance, operations, and participant experience.
  • Develop programs and services that meet community needs, support YMCA strategic priorities, and achieve participation, retention, and revenue goals.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, teamwork, member engagement, and service excellence.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets; monitor enrollment, revenue, expenses, and overall program performance.
  • Oversee sports leagues, clinics, instructional programs, enrichment classes, special events, and camp activities to ensure quality, safety, and operational effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with members, families, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to advance YMCA programs and community impact.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, community outreach efforts, and branch-wide events that strengthen awareness of the YMCA mission.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures, child protection standards, licensing requirements, risk management practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, payroll, registrations, and program documentation.
  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for participants, staff, volunteers, and members.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, professional development opportunities, and association initiatives.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and seasonal program requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Education, Business Administration, Youth Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of progressive leadership experience in sports, recreation, camp, youth development, program management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success supervising staff, volunteers, and program operations.
  • Experience managing budgets, enrollment goals, revenue performance, and operational outcomes preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with staff, members, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and membership/program management systems; Daxko experience preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Child Abuse Prevention, and other YMCA-required certifications completed within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
