Job Summary

Develops and manages relationships with governmental entities in designated markets where a government strategy has been established. Works in partnership with the local market executive and support teams to promote bank growth and profitability by growing deposits and providing other financial services through either direct or cross-selling efforts. Provides a variety of loan products geared for the government sector and loan services based on the complexity of the customers needs. May serve as the government specialist for multiple markets within a single state.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned depository and loan portfolio by retaining and strengthening current relationships. Identifies and contacts governmental prospects. Coordinates calling efforts on identified prospects with appropriate Banking partners.
  • Responsible for managing the request for proposal process with internal partners in order to produce final proposal document for submission.
  • Conducts full cross-selling of the Bank's lending, depository and cash management products to new and existing governmental clients, performing the duties as a trusted financial advisor to targeted prospective clients and existing client base.
  • Analyses financial statements of current and prospective borrowers and determines loan repayment capabilities through cash flow and collateral analysis. Negotiates complex credit terms, structures loan repayment methods and collateral specifications consistent with Bank policy. Develops and advocates appropriate interest rate terms and structure consistent with Bank guidelines and risk/return evaluation.
  • Stays current on events happening in the government sector including legislative action or GASB pronouncements.
  • Represent Synovus Bank within the community by actively serving in community organizations or other related leadership opportunities.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree Business Administration/Finance/ Government Administration/ or related field.

Minimum Experience:

  • Eight years of relevant banking or direct government experience.
