Job description:

               

Purpose

  • Will be responsible for Process Plant Reliability, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement Activities at HPL (High Pressure Leach), Oxygen plant and Acid plant (4)
  • Scope, plan and implement improvement projects that are identified in the Section.

Key Responsibilities

  • This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
  • Apply all workplace Safety Procedures and continually promote at work culture of Safety practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to support Maintenance and operations teams with the goal of improving plant reliability and reducing operating costs.
  • Actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement
  • Responsible for management of maintenance work priorities on a daily basis and ensuring that activities are undertaken in accordance with business needs
  • Investigate equipment failures and downtime by participating in Root Cause of Failure Analysis and recommend remedial actions to maintenance.  
  • Monitor and analyze plant performance and rectify deficiencies.
  • Help Maintenance team trouble shoot plant faulty equipment and guide in best ways to repair.
  • Modification and upgrade of existing plant and equipment through cooperation with other discipline engineers and assisting with mechanical design and maintenance functions.
  • Plant shutdown planning, management and execution.
  • Assist set equipment and spare components reliability performance specifications and develop key performance indicators for rotatable components with reference to world best practices.
  • Liaise with OEM suppliers / consultants to resolve equipment failures, installations and modifications.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to subordinates for increasing workforce effectiveness, safety and succession planning purposes.
  • Recommends and/or administers personnel disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or Equivalent
  • A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • A member of the Engineering Registration Board (ERB)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mining plant maintenance role
  • Extensive knowledge of Reliability Principles, Maintenance Strategies, Condition Monitoring, Failure Analysis and Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Forward Thinker "Can Do" attitude and the Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with Strong time management skills.
