Job Description:

The Specialist, Software Configuration Management is a critical specialty engineering support role that performs software configuration management (SWCM) functions to establish and oversee consistency of product performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information. This role also provides on-demand support to various engineering and program management teams as a support for software tools, DevOps support, and other tasking as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with multiple disciplines and levels of management regularly to ensure adequate control and traceability of all software products and security compliance
  • Participate in meeting software configuration management technical, schedule and cost objectives on assigned programs and delivery of software media
  • Interface with JIRA for team ticketing process flow and completions
  • Interface with existing software configuration management toolsets, to include Agile Product Data Management (PDM), Rational ClearQuest, Windchill, JIRA, and others.
  • Implement established software configuration management documentation, processes, training and principles in an Agile development environment (JIRA, Confluence, Artifactory, Bitbucket and others).
  • Perform audits to verify compliance with contract requirements
  • Participate with software configuration control boards as needed, including creation of agendas, facilitation of meetings and follow up of action items
  • Perform problem solving and provide creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues
  • Contribute and facilitate suggestions for improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area
  • May provide other functional support as assigned to assist in the execution of various engineering and program management activities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is required.
  • Requires intermediate technical knowledge in the functional job area including analytical and troubleshooting skills typically obtained through advanced education in a technical field and/or prior experience in an relevant engineering or technical support role such as: Configuration Manager (CM), Data Manager (DM), Quality Assurance Technician (QA/QE/QC), document controller, design drafter, technical writer, program operations analyst, systems support engineer, software engineer, integration and test engineer, specialty engineer, or similar.
  • Requires experience providing a customer service and support to multiple internal customers, external customers, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Requires experience using version control tools such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Agile PDM, JIRA, Artifactory, Bitbucket, ClearCase, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill or similar.
  • Willingness to work overtime and/or outside of normal business hours as needed to meet critical deadlines and business requirements.
  • Experience in an IT, IS, Software Engineering, Software Development, Software Engineering, Systems Administration, Cyber Security or Configuration Management or similar role.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Configuration Management principles as they apply to software
  • Working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience with Build Automation tools (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Experience in a Linux OS environment (e.g. RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Tool Administrator experience, especially with Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, JSON, Batch, Bash)
  • Familiarity with Agile processes (e.g. Kanban, Scrum)
  • One or more relevant Configuration Management certification(s) such as CMPIC or NDIA.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement techniques such as Lean Six Sigma or similar.
  • Certified Scrum Master or Scrum Master experience
