Specialist QA Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Specialist QA Engineer to join a high-performing DevOps team working on cross-border international payments systems. The successful candidate will bring at least 8 years of QA expertise, including automation, testing frameworks, and CI/CD practices. This role supports innovation and digital transformation in a major pan-African financial institution, helping modernise application infrastructure and ensure compliance with the highest quality standards.

Minimum Experience:
- 8+ years in Software Quality Assurance
- 3+ years in Automation Testing
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Advantageous: ISTQB Test Manager Certification

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities vary by engagement but may include:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for both frontend and backend systems.
- Collaborate with developers to embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Create technical integration and automated test suites using frameworks such as Robot Framework and Selenium
- Conduct API and performance testing using tools like Postman and JMeter
- Plan and coordinate test strategies and execution across internal and external projects.
- Monitor test delivery and quality metrics across test phases.
- Mentor and support QA resources, providing leadership in test practices.
- Ensure adherence to governance processes and implement quality gates.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and evaluate testing maturity.
- Prepare and present detailed test reports to stakeholders.
- Manage quality risks and provide mitigation plans.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Automation Expertise: Proficient in Selenium, Python, TestNG, and REST API testing
- Frameworks & Design Patterns: Strong experience with data-driven, keyword-driven, and hybrid test frameworks, plus Page Object Model (POM)
- CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating tests within DevOps pipelines using Git and other CI/CD tools.
- Testing Methodologies: Familiar with Agile Testing, Risk-Based Testing, TDD, BDD, and Exploratory Testing
- Performance Testing: Knowledge of performance, load, and scalability testing techniques
- Test Governance & Strategy: Strong experience in planning, execution, and test process improvement.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage senior stakeholders confidently.
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the National Payment System and SWIFT/international settlements is highly advantageous.
- Leadership: Ability to provide technical leadership, coaching, and resource development in QA environments
