The Role

Brownfield Conversion & Finance Transformation

  • Lead Finance and Grants Management workstreams in Brownfield conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA
  • Perform Finance simplification item analysis and system readiness assessments
  • Evaluate legacy customizations and identify remediation strategies
  • Ensure continuity of financial operations during system transition
  • Support conversion strategy including data, configuration, and reporting alignment

Finance Functional Responsibilities

Core Finance (FI)

  • Configure and optimize:
    • General Ledger (New GL / Universal Journal)
    • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
    • Bank Accounting & Cash Management
    • Asset Accounting
    • Tax & Regulatory Reporting
  • Enable S/4HANA Finance innovations:
    • Universal Journal (ACDOCA)
    • Real-time financial analytics
    • Parallel ledgers and accounting standards
    • Document splitting

Controlling (CO)

  • Cost Center Accounting
  • Internal Orders
  • Profit Center Accounting
  • Product Costing
  • Margin Analysis (CO-PA)
  • Budget availability control

Grants Management Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and optimization of SAP Grants Management functionality
  • Configure:
    • Grant master data
    • Sponsored programs & classes
    • Grant budgeting and lifecycle tracking
    • Grant billing and cost recovery
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor and regulatory requirements
  • Integrate Grants Management with Finance, Funds Management, and Projects
  • Support reporting for grant audits and funding agencies

Data Migration & System Readiness

  • Lead finance and grants master data assessment and cleansing
  • Oversee migration of:
    • Chart of Accounts
    • Vendors, Customers, Business Partners
    • Asset master and balances
    • Open items and historical transactions
    • Grant master data and grant budgets
  • Ensure financial data integrity post-conversion
  • Support migration tools (e.g., Migration Cockpit, LTMC)

Integration & Reporting

  • Ensure integration with:
    • Materials Management (MM)
    • Sales & Distribution (SD)
    • Project Systems (PS)
    • Funds Management (FM)
    • Asset Management (EAM)
  • Enable embedded analytics and Fiori-based finance apps
  • Support financial statements and regulatory reporting
  • Design CDS views and reporting enhancements where needed

Testing & Deployment

  • Develop Functional Unit Testing (FUT) and Integration Test scenarios
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Assist cutover planning and go-live readiness
  • Provide hypercare and post-go-live support
Responsibilities

Functional Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience in:
    • SAP S/4HANA Finance
    • SAP Grants Management
  • Proven experience in Brownfield S/4HANA conversions
  • Deep knowledge of public sector or grant-funded financial processes
  • Strong understanding of S/4HANA Finance data model and simplification impacts
  • Experience with Fiori finance applications

Technical & Tools Knowledge

  • SAP Migration Cockpit / LTMC
  • Data migration frameworks
  • Financial data reconciliation tools
  • Custom code impact analysis

Project Experience

  • 2+ full lifecycle SAP Finance implementations
  • At least 1 Brownfield S/4HANA conversion project
  • Experience in large enterprise/public sector environments
  • Strong documentation and testing expertise
Qualifications
  • SAP S/4HANA Finance Certification
  • Experience in Public Sector Management
  • Knowledge of Central Finance architecture
  • Exposure to Treasury & Risk Management
  • Experience with IFRS / GAAP multi-ledger environments
  • Position is onsite , consultant has to be at customer premises through out the duration of the project. (Houston, Texas, USA)
