The Senior SAP HCM Consultant will play a critical role in the SAP S/4HANA Brownfield Migration program, providing deep functional expertise across Organizational Management (OM), Personnel Administration (PA), US Payroll, and Benefits Administration. The consultant will ensure business continuity, statutory compliance, and data integrity while transitioning the existing SAP ECC HCM landscape to S/4HANA.
This role is focused on minimizing business disruption, validating retained configurations, addressing HCM‑specific simplifications, and ensuring payroll and benefits processes operate seamlessly post‑conversion
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Brownfield Migration Leadership
- Serve as the functional lead for the SAP HCM workstream in an ECC to S/4HANA brownfield conversion
- Assess existing SAP ECC HCM configurations and determine retain vs. remediate vs. retire decisions
- Lead impact analysis for S/4HANA simplification items and HCM technical adaptations
OM, PA & Organizational Continuity
- Validate existing organizational structures, positions, jobs, and reporting relationships post‑conversion
- Ensure personnel administration processes and infotypes function as‑is or with minimal remediation
- Support testing and validation of personnel actions and cross‑module dependencies
US Payroll Assurance
- Ensure end‑to‑end US Payroll continuity with zero disruption during and after migration, including:
- Payroll schemas, PCRs, and wage types
- Federal, State, and Local tax configuration
- Retroactive payroll, off‑cycle payments, and year‑end processing
- Lead payroll parallel runs to confirm ECC vs. S/4HANA result parity
Benefits Administration Continuity
- Validate existing benefits configurations, including:
- Health, welfare, retirement, and insurance plans
- Enrolment rules and life event processing
- Integrations with third‑party benefits providers
- Ensure open enrolment and ongoing eligibility processing are unaffected by the migration
Testing & Validation
- Lead and coordinate:
- Unit testing and integration testing for SAP HCM
- Payroll comparison and reconciliation cycles
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with client HR and Payroll teams
- Ensure defects are analysed with a migration‑first mindset (no unnecessary redesign)
Integration & Data Integrity
- Validate HCM integrations with:
- Finance (FI/CO) for payroll postings
- Time Management systems
- SAP SuccessFactors or third‑party HR applications
- Support data consistency checks and reconciliation for master and transactional HCM data
Governance, Audit & Documentation
- Deliver audit‑ready migration documentation, including:
- Configuration validation reports
- Payroll reconciliation evidence
- Test execution and sign‑off artifacts
- Ensure compliance with US statutory, SOX, and internal audit requirements throughout the migration
Required Experience & Skills
SAP HCM Expertise
- 10+ years of SAP HCM experience with a strong focus on:
- Organizational Management (OM)
- Personnel Administration (PA)
- US Payroll
- Benefits Administration
- Proven experience supporting ECC to S/4HANA Brownfield conversions
Payroll & Compliance
- In‑depth knowledge of US payroll statutory and tax compliance
- Strong hands‑on experience with payroll schemas, PCRs, wage types, and posting logic
- Experience validating payroll results across system conversions
Consulting & Client Engagement
- Strong client‑facing skills with experience working in program governance and migration assurance roles
- Ability to communicate risks, impacts, and remediation strategies clearly to business stakeholders
- Experience working under strict cutover timelines and compliance expectations
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- HCM for S/4HANA) and ECC to S/4 migration exposure
- SAP Payroll Control Centre (PCC) experience
- Experience supporting regulated or audit‑intensive environments
- SAP HCM certification(s)
