Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Career Navigator provides structured, goal-focused support to team members pursuing professional growth and skill development. This role utilizes a career case management approach to assist team members in developing measurable career plans, accessing education or training programs, navigating internal career pathways, and completing required workplace skills initiatives to support retention and advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist team members in identifying short- and long-term career goals.
  2. Conducts workplace skills assessments to identify development needs and skill gaps.
  3. Develop individualized career action plans with measurable milestones using the SMART goal format.
  4. Delivers structured, short-term, outcome-driven services focused on career development, job readiness, workplace skill attainment, retention, and advancement.
  5. Assist team members in enrolling and completing education and training programs aligned with their career goals.
  6. Conducts scheduled follow-ups to monitor progress, address barriers, and reinforce accountability toward education, training, and career plan milestones.
  7. Provides supportive guidance to help team members navigate personal and workplace challenges impacting career progress.
  8. Connects team members to relevant community resources to address life barriers impacting career development and employment stability.
  9. Refers team members to Counselors when appropriate for crisis level needs, mental health concerns, or significant behavioral challenges
  10. Supports collaboration between Team Members and their Managers related to career development goals. 
  11. Tracks participation, progress, and completion for employees enrolled in workplace skills training.
  12. Maintains timely and accurate documentation of all services, training participation, and case management activities within the electronic case management system.
  13. Collaborates with management, HR, Counselors, and other internal programs to support team members’ workplace success.
  14. Meets established program metrics related to participation, completion rates, measurable career development or advancement outcomes.
  15. Upholds ethical standards and maintains strict confidentiality of all service-related information in accordance with organizational policies.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, workforce development, human services or related field required.
  2. Current certification as a career development or workforce development professional is a plus.
  3. Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful and preferred.
  4. 2+ years of experience in career development, workforce development, education, or training, including at least 1 year providing case management services.
  5. Knowledge of local community resources and the ability to coordinate referrals to address basic needs, such as food, transportation, childcare, and other support services.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively engage with team members from diverse backgrounds while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  8. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the ability to maintain accurate documentation within electronic case management systems.
  9. Position requires frequent travel between various Goodwill locations. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance coverage are required.
