Job Summary: The Special Procedures Technologist, under the supervision of the Special Procedures Supervisor, Radiology Managers and Credentialed Physician co-ordinates the technical and patient care component of angiograms, interventions, and other invasive procedures. He/she is responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Graduate from an approved school of Radiology Science. Registered by the ARRT. Two (2) years experience as a radiographer preferred. 
  • Maintain BLS certification.
  • As a condition of continued employment, staff members must maintain current status at all times and not allow his/her certification/licensure/registry to expire, or he/she will no longer be compliant with the requirement of the job description. Once a staff member’s credentialed status has been negated/lost/revoked they will be terminated from their position in accordance with this job description and Human Resources policy 3.11.
  • The technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s Standard Operating Procedure manual.

Skills Required

  • Graduate from an approved school of Radiologic Science
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Two years of experience as a radiographer
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Maintain current certification, licensure, and registry status throughout employment
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care
