Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Space Systems Engineer with experience in integration and test to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in in either Seal Beach, CA; Aurora, CO; or El Segundo, CA. ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning various technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world's first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which is continuing to shape the future of space technology while currently flying its eighth mission.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan and perform end-to-end space system test programs, including spacecraft, ground systems, and external systems and interfaces.
- Develop test requirements, configurations, procedures, and scripts.
- Support software integration, test, and debugging from multiple elements within the system,
- Perform hardware/software integration and lab testing using EDUs, emulators, and simulations,
- Assist with spacecraft flight hardware testing and data collection, review, and analysis,
- Design and operate Special Test Equipment (STE).
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and help resolve issues identified during testing or operational use,
- Support system verification, validation, sell-off, and launch and operations readiness activities.
- Contribute to process improvements through the application of current and emerging tools and methods.
- Develop plans, communicate status, and coordinate effectively across multifunctional teams.
- Prepare and present review materials for internal and external leadership.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across technical disciplines and mission areas. work alongside a multidisciplinary team of test engineers, software developers, special test equipment designers, and test directors to plan, coordinate, and perform integration and test efforts.
- Solve complex technical challenges in evolving design environments.
This position is expected to be fully onsite in either Seal Beach, CA; Aurora, CO; or El Segundo, CA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S Top Secret/SCI. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
- Minimum years of related experience: 3+ for level 3, 5+ for level 4.
- Systems engineering experience.
- Verification and validation of complex systems experience.
- Space systems integration and test experience.
- Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically.
- If not already within commuting distance of either Seal Beach, CA; Aurora, CO; or El Segundo, CA, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working in hardware/software integration labs.
- Experience with software integration and test.
- Experience with spacecraft ground systems (mission planning and command/control).
- Experience with spacecraft hardware functional or environmental testing.
- Experience developing test procedures and scripts and software to automate testing, data collection, constraint checking, and data processing and validation.
- Familiarity with digital twin and virtualization testing and validation strategies.
Typical Education & Experience:
Experienced (level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range
Experienced (level 3): $119,850 - $162,150
Lead (level 4): $146,200 - $197,800
