South Coast Radiology is seeking an experienced and passionate Sonographer Technical Lead to support the technical excellence, consistency and ongoing development of our Sonography service across multiple sites.

This senior technical role is ideal for an accomplished Sonographer who enjoys working at a broader service level supporting protocols, equipment, workflows and professional development while collaborating closely with clinical leaders, Radiologists and vendors.

About the role:

Reporting to the Sonographer Regional Manager, the Sonographer Technical Lead is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe and consistent ultrasound practices across South Coast Radiology.

You will deliver high-quality clinical scanning while also providing expert guidance, training, and technical leadership to sonographers and trainees. The role drives best-practice standards across clinical protocols, equipment utilisation, and digital workflows, without direct line management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, review and governance of Sonography protocols and clinical standards
  • Drive consistency in scanning techniques, workflows and image quality across all sites
  • Provide technical oversight and support for ultrasound equipment, ergonomics and infection control
  • Maintain and improve Sono Review worksheets, digital templates and reporting workflows
  • Partner with Radiologists, Regional Leads and IT to support quality assurance and service improvement
  • Provide technical coaching, training and professional development support to Sonographers
  • Act as a key technical advisor for investigations, audits and scan quality reviews

About you:

You are a highly skilled Sonographer who enjoys leading through expertise and collaboration. You take pride in technical quality, enjoy problem-solving, and are confident working with both people and systems.

Essential requirements:

  • Current ASAR registration as a Medical Sonographer
  • Broad technical experience across ultrasound examinations
  • Experience updating protocols, worksheets or clinical workflows
  • Experience mentoring, training or supporting other Sonographers
  • Willingness to travel across South Coast Radiology, Mackay Radiology and Darling Downs Radiology clinics
