JOB PURPOSE
To design, develop, and implement fit-for-purpose warehouse logistics solutions that meet customer requirements, operational objectives, and commercial viability. The Solutions Design supports business development, operational improvement, and implements projects by providing detailed technical and analytical expertise, including layout planning, process optimization, and cost modeling. Additionally help support operations to make continuous improvements to them processes through technical and practical analysis and implementation. You will turn customer
needs into workable, costed designs. You will also lead Business / Continuous Improvement across
our sites, using data and Lean methods to remove waste and lift customer service levels.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solution Design & Development
- Create end-to-end warehouse solutions, including layout design, process flow, equipment specification, and automation integration.
- Translate customer requirements and data into viable operational designs.
- Support bid development with detailed solution designs and costings.
- Data Analysis & Modelling
- Analyze customer and operational data (volume, SKU profile, pick rates, etc.) to inform design decisions.
- Use modeling tools and software (e.g. Excel & simulation tools) to assess the viability and efficiency of proposed solutions.
- Commercial & Costing Support
- Develop accurate cost models for labor, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to prepare pricing proposals and business cases.
- Project Handover & Implementation Support
- Work with implementation teams to ensure smooth handover of design specifications.
- Provide technical support and design amendments during ramp-up and go-live phases.
- Business / Continuous Improvement
- Lead improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S and value-stream mapping.
- Identify waste in receiving, put-away, picking, packing, dispatch and transport, and fix the root causes.
- Review and improve site layouts, slotting, travel paths and workflows.
- Analyze and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Coach supervisors and team members in problem-solving and improvement methods.
- Track savings and benefits and report results to management.
QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
- 3+ years in warehouse, logistics or supply chain solution design or continuous improvement
- Proven Lean / Continuous Improvement experience Strong
- Strong data skills – advanced Excel; Power BI or similar
- Knowledge of WMS and warehouse operations (receiving to dispatch)
- Clear communicator who can present to customers and senior managers
- Current driver's license
Skills Required
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, supply chain solution design, or continuous improvement
- Proven Lean or continuous improvement experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Power BI or similar data-analysis experience
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems and warehouse operations from receiving through dispatch
- Ability to communicate clearly and present to customers and senior managers
- Current driver's license
