Summary Generated by Built In

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) is accelerating real-world quantum computing adoption and we’re hiring a Solutions Architect in Tokyo to help lead that mission across Japan and APAC.

This role sits at the intersection of quantum algorithm development, customer engagement, and commercial impact. You’ll work directly with enterprise customers to translate complex business challenges into quantum-ready solutions, developing and prototyping algorithms tailored to OQC’s superconducting hardware.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of real-world quantum computing, helping organisations unlock the potential of quantum technologies. As a Solutions Architect, you will play a key role in turning industry challenges into innovative quantum solutions by developing algorithms that bridge cutting-edge research and practical business impact. You’ll work directly with customers to demonstrate real value, shaping how quantum computing moves from experimentation to meaningful application.

This is a varied role with opportunities to be a key part of growing customer engagements and building proof-of-concept solutions on OQC’s hardware, collaborating with global engineering teams and influencing product strategy through market insight. You’ll represent OQC across industry and academic communities, contributing to emerging benchmarks and algorithmic advances, and help define what quantum advantage looks like for real-world use cases. It’s a unique chance to combine deep technical expertise with customer-facing impact in a fast-growing, globally connected quantum company.

What you’ll do:
  • Own: Lead the technical customer relationship, ensuring an exceptional end-to-end customer experience alongside Business Development and Account Management.
  • Translate: Engage directly with customers to understand business challenges and convert them into clear technical requirements and quantum-ready use cases.
  • Develop: Design, evaluate and implement quantum (and hybrid classical) algorithms and software components to solve real-world customer problems.
  • Prototype: Build proof-of-concept solutions independently and with OQC Software Engineers, managing technical escalations and removing blockers.
  • Benchmark: Define meaningful evaluation metrics and benchmark quantum approaches against classical baselines to demonstrate near- and long-term value.
  • Influence: Represent OQC in workshops and industry events while feeding back market insights, emerging algorithms, and trends to shape product strategy.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically strong, customer-focused problem solver who’s excited to apply quantum computing to real-world industry challenges.

Core Experience:
  • Quantum Algorithm Development: Proven experience developing quantum algorithms from concept through to implementing POCs (independently or in a team). Experience working with Quantum algorithms is absolutely essential for this role.
  • Quantum Research Exposure: Background in quantum algorithms through academic research or industry work.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Strong ability to prototype quickly, explore options, and iterate toward workable solutions.
  • Customer Engagement: Experience translating challenges into technical use cases and practical applications.
  • Global Collaboration: Comfortable working across international teams and time zones.
  • Python Proficiency: Strong Python skills, including scientific Python libraries.
  • Bilingual Fluency: Professional-level Japanese and English communication skills.
The “Nice to Haves”:
  • Authorship of academic papers in quantum computing, AI, or machine learning.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning frameworks and AI models.
  • Experience in quantitative finance, financial engineering, or similar analysis-heavy environments.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Rust, or other low-level programming languages.

If you’re excited about bringing quantum computing from theory into practical application and shaping its adoption in Japan — we’d love to hear from you.
