Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Package Virtualized Applications: Build and maintain virtual application packages for VDI and physical (thick) clients, including apps with advanced graphics and plugin dependencies.
- Optimize Application Sequencing: Refine and update sequencing processes; identify user settings (e.g., registry, AppData) to persist across sessions in non-persistent environments.
- Streamline Delivery Through Automation: Identify automation opportunities and partner with engineering to scale and optimize app packaging workflows.
- Infrastructure Support: Assist the virtualization and VDI teams with infrastructure configurations and improvements to support application delivery.
- Disaster Recovery & Continuity Planning: Enhance backup, failover, and continuity of operations procedures for mission resilience.
- Performance Optimization: Use VMware software-defined data center tools to troubleshoot and tune performance across the virtualization stack.
- Documentation & Communication: Produce clear and concise design docs, test plans, user guides, and training materials to support engineering and operations teams.
- Security & Compliance: Analyze and apply security patches, perform software updates, and ensure systems are secure and compliant.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across teams to resolve incidents, fulfill software requests, and provide expert-level support.
- Collaborate with SMEs: Work with mission subject matter experts and application testers to validate performance, functionality, and compatibility.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience with Systems Administration/Virtualization. (Additional Education, Training, Certifications or Work Experience can be substituted in lieu of degree or work experience). A degree may be substituted with additional years of experience.
- 3+ years of experience with VDI technologies, including VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
- 2+ years of experience with Citrix XenApp or comparable application virtualization technology (Microsoft App-V, FlexApp, App Volumes, etc)
- CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8140.01M certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2012+
- Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell for automation and deployment tasks
- Experience in non-persistent desktop environments
- Familiarity with profile management tools such as VMware DEM or Liquidware ProfileUnity
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
- Understanding of application delivery load-balancing
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and best practices
- Ability to create architecture design documents and presentations
- Understanding of frameworks like TOGAF
- VMware certification (e.g., VCA-DCV or higher) a strong plus
- Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Service+
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of experience in systems administration or virtualization (additional education, certifications, or work experience may substitute for degree.)
- 8140.01M IAT Level II Certification
- VMware Horizon
- Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
- 2+ years of experience with application virtualization tools, including:
- Citrix XenApp
- Microsoft App-V
- App Volumes or comparable technologies
Clearance Requirements:
- TS/SCI (with ability to obtain CI poly)
