The Boeing Research & Technology organization is looking for a Software Test Engineer to support the Payload Product Technology and Advanced Ground Systems team based in Huntington Beach, CA.
Join us as a Software Test Engineer for the Kestrel Payload Product Technology program, where you will play a vital role in demonstrating a cutting-edge tactical space-based imagery microsatellite. This position demands a hands-on integrator who will lead efforts in Payload Flight Software (Senior or Lead), including planning the Formal Qualification Test (FQT), developing rigorous test procedures, and crafting effective test scenarios for execution. Position Responsibilities

Leads the design, development, test procedures, scenarios, and maintenance of non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards. Familiar with Formal Qualification Test (FQT)

Leads review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products. Coordinates the development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations.

Leads activities to develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.

Debugs and leads resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.

Leads handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and user feedback analysis.

Leads research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development.

Leads development, establishment, monitoring, and improvement of software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.

Leads execution and documentation of software research and development projects. Consults on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.

Leads tracking and evaluation of software test plans to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Coding Challenge:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

5 or more years of experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
-
5 or more years of experience with systems architecture, requirements analysis, test, and verification.
-
5 or more years of experience developing and debugging software using high-level programming languages (C, C++).
-
2 or more years of experience in Object Oriented Design and Programming.
-
3 or more years of experience with satellite or space-based payloads.
-
2 or more years of experience using Systems Engineering tools (i.e., CAMEO, CORE 9, etc.) for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor of Science degree (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree is strongly preferred.

Active Secret Security Clearance

Experience working in a cross functional environment

Experience working on large scale complex development programs using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience as the technical leader of a software development or product deployment team.
Typical Education/Experience:
Senior (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range for Senior level: 130,900 – 177,100
Summary Pay Range for Lead level: 161,500 – 218,500
