As a Software Test Engineer Intern you will join a highly effective product quality team, working alongside developers in an Agile environment to develop and execute test cases for a wide range of software components, including user interfaces, algorithms and back-end data handling. This role includes writing and updating test cases, manually executing tests and interacting with a variety of electronic equipment in the lab. The co-op will also contribute to test automation efforts requiring coding skills in Python, MATLAB or C++. Our tools include Squish, Python, C++, MATLAB and Linux.

The OPAL HDx Mapping System is a 3D mapping and navigation system and an effective diagnostic tool for cardiac electrophysiology (EP) procedures. It provides real-time visualization of intracardiac catheters and displays 3D cardiac maps in selected formats during minimally invasive procedures, helping physicians identify the origin of an arrhythmia within the heart chamber. As a physician probes the heart with a catheter, the system generates an accurate anatomical model of the chamber. High-performance rendering and algorithmic techniques are vital to creating a detailed view and providing physicians with immediate feedback.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Use problem-solving skills to perform meaningful engineering work.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to support product quality.
• Design, develop and execute test cases to ensure product quality by validating system functionality and verifying that business and user requirements are met within the electrophysiology domain.
• Manually execute tests and run automated test scripts.
• Ensure testing is conducted according to written procedures.
• Document test results and prepare test reports.
• Record and track defects using a bug-tracking system.

Required qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in computer science, biomedical engineering or physics, with an expected graduation date in fall/winter 2027 or spring 2028.
• Available to participate for the full duration of the intern program from May 17th- August 6th OR May 24th- August 13th, 2027.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
• Have reliable transportation to and from 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. Boston Scientific does not provide transportation or transportation support to and from its locations.
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB.

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior software testing experience.
• Working knowledge of C++.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with report writing and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to learn complex software and quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
