The Position
For our IT development team in Mumbai/Bangalore, we are looking for Test Engineers with strong automation experience. You will form part of a multi-locational key development feature team using an Agile methodology. You will be fulfilling tasks in functional, integration, and user-level testing in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment on (near) real-time systems where reliability and security are paramount.
As part of the team, you will be encouraged to actively contribute ideas and influence decisions at all stages of the product lifecycle to ensure high-quality delivery.
The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks - with a primary focus on Playwright for UI automation. A strong understanding of test strategy, API testing, and quality assurance best practices is essential for this role.
Our target platform is built with Azure PaaS/SaaS tools. Experience with the Azure platform and a willingness to learn are key foundations for success.
Job Accountabilities / Detailed Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Developers to understand and refine user stories for test readiness
• Design, develop, and manage automated test scripts using Playwright while applying QA principles and best practices
• Execute and review functional, UI, and API test plans to ensure products meet acceptance criteria
• Perform regression testing and ensure continuous test coverage as part of the CI/CD pipeline
• Identify quality gaps, log defects with clear documentation, and work with development teams to drive resolution
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to estimation, planning, and retrospectives
• Actively contribute to improving testing processes, automation strategies, and overall product quality

Education, Skills & Competencies:

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in functional testing, automation (UI + API), and test process implementation
• Strong hands-on experience in Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript-based automation)
• Solid knowledge of API testing tools like Postman or REST Assured
• Proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java
• Experience working in Agile teams with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Financial Services / Investment Banking domain experience is preferred
• Excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and quality-first mindset
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred
