About the Team
The Cloud Monitoring team is responsible for bringing Meraki Dashboard features to the Cisco Catalyst family of switches and wireless products. The QA team builds and runs any and all software and hardware tests to ensure that new releases meet our quality and reliability standards. We are looking for a mid-level QA engineer who is as passionate about quality as we are.

About the Role
As a Software QA Engineer, you will be responsible for improving the overall quality of deliverables for Cloud Monitoring, applying a system design approach to quality engineering and testing. You bring proven experience in contributing to software quality, aligned with business needs with the right balance of manual and automated tests to help improve time to market for the products.
- Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience writing, executing, and improving test suites - both manual and automation tests in the networking domain
- Hands-on experience with networking technologies such as IPv4/6, TCP, UDP, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, etc.
- Ability to work independently with Product Managers/Customers and develop test plans aligned to business priorities
- Project Leadership - act as technical lead for projects, define and deliver well-scoped milestones for a project, and identify the right solutions to tackle ambiguous, open-ended problems
- Strong ability to write quality code (automation test code) with Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Ruby.
- Experience with test automation frameworks for functional testing such as API, or scale/performance testing - preferably with open-source frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, etc.
- Experience applying analysis from test automation tools, defect tracking systems, code analysis tools, user surveys, or analytics platforms to drive software quality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration skills
- Experience in scaling or performance testing using simulation tools, equipment such as Ixia or Spirent
What You Will Do
- Bring strong networking and cloud experience to help develop tests (manual, automated, integrated) to help drive the quality of the services/features
- Own test execution plans and setup systems execute tests and collect metrics such as test pass rates/priority, etc to generate software quality reports and improve test effectiveness
- Validate quality and stability from a system perspective that emulates customer environments by setting up testbed infra appropriately and triage issues during test cycles to help development engineering
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and strive to come up with reliable and scalable tests for existing and upcoming products and software features aligned with business objectives
- Possible on-call rotation every 2 months
Bonus points if your experience includes
- Experience working in a fast-moving agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and with remote teams
- You hold deep technical curiosity and are a strong technical communicator
- Design, build, and maintain Testbed infrastructure, triage Automated regression failures and provide failure analysis to certify software releases for networking devices - switches, routers, or wireless controllers/access points
- Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab, authoring bots for automation, and other DevOps Tools
- Rolling up your sleeves to participate in driving operational excellence (pipeline automation, on-call, monitoring/alerting, incident postmortems)

Compensation Range:
$106,400—$203,100 USD

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
