Position Description

The Software Quality Assurance Analyst ensures that products meet the requirements and standards specified by the Product Owner or Product Manager. This role involves examining and testing software products, analyzing data, identifying and reporting defects, validating product functionality, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, this position works closely with cross-functional teams, including the Product Management and Customer Support, to develop and implement quality control measures. 


The Software Quality Assurance Specialists will use a variety of tools to test software applications, including test management software, defect tracking software, automation testing tools, and performance testing tools. Expertise in testing methodologies, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering exceptional software will be crucial in maintaining the highest standards of quality in our products. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts, to ensure quality and reliability of software.
  • Document and maintain test cases, test data, and testing artifacts to ensure traceability and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Conducting both manual and automated functional, regression, performance, integration and user acceptance testing to validate product functionality, stability, and scalability.
  • Document software defects and issues and work with Development teams to facilitate their resolution. 
  • Ability to create and run SQL queries to test and troubleshoot software
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Development teams to understand product requirements and participate in design reviews to ensure testability and quality.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support teams to analyze and reproduce customer-reported issues, providing timely resolutions and recommendations.
  • Working closely with other software teams and attaining a good awareness of the other products and how they interact with the software you are responsible for testing. Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups, providing testing insights and status updates.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in quality assurance, and contribute to the adoption of new tools and approaches to improve testing processes.

  • Other Occasional Duties - The Software QA Analyst may be required to:

  • Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to the duties and responsibilities of the Customer Support team as needed.
  • To work during an evening or part of a weekend to meet release deadlines and goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3 to 5 years proven experience as a QA Analyst or similar role.
  • Have knowledge of quality assurance principles and agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to absorb many skills quickly and show great flexibility in adapting to changing needs.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in your work to ensure that all aspects of the product meet the required quality standards.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions. Must be able to analyze complex problems and develop solutions to make sure the product meets the required quality standards.
  • Proficiency in using test management and defect tracking tools to document test cases, track test execution, and report issues.
  • Ability to manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines while maintaining the required quality standards.
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential to document issues and communicate them effectively to developers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Must enjoy working with people and relate well to others but must also be able to focus on and resolve tasks independently and must be a self-starter.
  • Should be able to learn to use our products quickly and must enjoy working in a professional team environment.
  • Act with high integrity and commitment toward the company's mission.

Occasional periods of travel are required. Due to the requirement to travel to customers’ sites employees must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license. This is a salaried position and may require work beyond the normal 40 hour work week to accomplish the job duties. This position is classified as exempt and covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).


Work Environment & Physical Demands

VR Systems is a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee will be required to work extended hours. The employee is frequently required to sit for long period of times and must have the ability to lift 35 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
