Software Platform Engineer

Job Description
The Software Platform Engineer role works to design, build, manage and maintain the infrastructure and tools required for our MxS project teams to develop and deploy software within the Lab42 gov-cloud based environments.
Key responsibilities include:

• design and build the MxS testing and operational platform from ground up
• writing code to develop automation in structure/processes
• assist in the design, build, management, and optimization of Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications
• involved in writing apps in support of the platform offerings for MxS
• assist in the overall architecture design and development of Lab42 environments and structure and realizing the "art of the possible"
• oversee all monitoring, reporting, and troubleshoot issue resolution pertaining to MxS infrastructure
• proactively manage project stakeholders
• assist in the collaboration between US/UK operations to ensure requirements have been captured, and goals/objectives are met for the project initiative
• work with cybersecurity to ensure security and stability of the MxS infrastructure in order to maintain compliance under corporate BAE systems cyber policy
• participate in Lab42 change management processes from the software platform perspective
• active participation during internal audits involving Lab42
• collaboration with project teams to determine technical infrastructure requirements, identify solutions, and participate in infrastructure solution initiatives to the benefit of MxS

This role will be responsible for delivery, monitoring, and maintenance of a built-for-purpose Kubernetes cluster with customized VMs in containers. The ability to self-direct and manage inclusive activities with little direction as well as experience/involvement in technical projects such as infrastructure stand up and migration activities are required. The ideal candidate should be able to deal directly with the customer and provide technical guidance.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years work experience or equivalent experience
• Software platform engineering expertise
• Experience with Kubernetes build & administration - CKA certification
• Understanding of user access permissions and requirements within an export controlled environment
• Experience utilizing the Atlassian Suite of tools
• Proven communication and collaborative experience across diverse engineering and IT teams
• Ability to act as subject matter expert in areas of system and infrastructure management, system and tooling administration, and technical project operations
• Familiarity with federal Cybersecurity policies and industry best practices in any environment
• Expertise in infrastructure design, architecture, development, and ongoing support and maintenance
• Experience in Coding Languages such as Python, Java, Spring

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience with Security administration to include intrusion detection, security as policy/code, and audit solutions.
• Experience with AWS or other Cloud Platforms
• Excellent with problem solving and troubleshooting
• Experience with Open Source tools, such as PostgreSQL, Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Argo CD, Active MQ
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Knowledge of Scripting Solutions against infrastructure
• Experience with Node JS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST API

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
