Role Overview:
Intramotev is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our diverse software engineering teams in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. In this role, you will oversee and synchronize three distinct sub-teams—Embedded, Perception, and Application—ensuring that these varied technology stacks operate in lockstep. While the Chief Architect drives the technical roadmap and implementation, your primary focus will be on people leadership, process optimization, and operational execution. This position will be based out of St. Louis, MO.
Key Responsibilities:
People Leadership: Own performance management, career development, and goal setting for individual contributors across the software organization.
Cross-Team Synchronization: Manage and coordinate activities across the Embedded, Perception, and Application software sub-teams to ensure seamless integration of different technologies.
Resource Alignment: Partner closely with the Chief Architect to ensure team resources, hiring strategies, and skill sets are aligned with the technical roadmap and implementation goals.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring projects remain on schedule and processes are optimized for efficiency and quality.
Team Building: Hire engineers, coordinate their training, and foster a collaborative environment that attracts top talent.
Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with security regulations and review policies relevant to internal systems.
Team Dynamics:
- Manage three sub-teams of software engineers with between 3 - 7 members on diverse projects.
- Foster excellent interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Adapt to evolving project objectives and requirements.
- Engage in occasional domestic and/or international travel to support integration, demonstration, and customer engagement/interactions.

About You:
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant field.
- Previous experience as an engineering manager or in a similar senior-level position within a software engineering department
- Proven experience managing performance, setting goals, and developing careers for engineering teams.
- Experience managing diverse technical teams (e.g., Embedded, Perception, Applications) with different technology stacks.
- Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
- Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as a leader.
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
- U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
- Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems.
- Good understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience leading teams through rapid growth and scaling operations.
- Comfortable acting as a coach and mentor for engineers at various career stages.
- Experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces.
Typical Education and Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience.
