Cleared Software Engineering Manager

We build software to support these missions, including providing battlefield information to allies, identifying malign activity, and helping the US deter and deescalate conflict.

About the role 

The Effects engineering team is building a cutting-edge platform for non-kinetic operations in support of strategic competition efforts.​ We’re looking for a talented Engineering Manager to lead this cross-functional team. 

What You’ll Do 

• Lead and grow a team of engineers. Accelerate their performance by providing technical mentorship and insightful feedback. Provide coaching and career development. 
• Contribute to the code. We think the best leaders lead by example, so you will be expected to routinely take on IC deliverables as well. 
• Own the lifecycle of products, from problem discovery to ideation to prototype to production. 
• Work closely with cybersecurity specialists and mission partners to prioritize work and push the business forward. 
• Travel up to 20% of the time to meet with mission owners, better understand requirements, and deliver capabilities. 

What we look for 

• 6+ years of software engineering experience. Contributed to system design and architecture for production-grade software. 
• 2+ years of leadership experience. Successfully mentored and grew peeps. Balanced high delivery velocity with empathy for the humans on the team. 
• Experience building and owning features end-to-end: decomposing problems into deliverables, gathering requirements, writing and discussing RFCs, coding, writing documentation, rolling out to production, etc. 
• Excellent communication skills, teamwork abilities, and project ownership. 
• Passionate about solving real world problems and moving fast. 
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. 
• Active U.S. Security Clearance.
