Software engineering internship: full stack (HDL)

ASML is the world’s supplier to the semiconductor industry. We are looking for a full-stack software developer intern with an interest in Data Engineering to join our highly interdisciplinary team at ASML Our team develops and maintains tools used in the development of embedded logic and firmware. 

You will work with a variety of domain-specific experts, developing software and tools that gets used by hundreds of internal users. Your main focus will be to build a secure and scalable data pipeline that collects, stores and manages our data as well as a UI and webpage for interacting with the data.

As a Full Stack Software Intern, you will work in an Agile team of about 8 people. This team is part of the larger Hardware Engineering Agile release train. You main task will be creating a GDB Traceability Tool that is comprised of:

• A web frontend (Dashboard) that facilitates querying the data sources.
• A set of functional views for cross-querying data sources.
• A collection of visualizations that present data in a clear and engaging manner.
• A fully implemented user authentication system with role-based access.
• A feature that allows users to export query results to Excel.

This is a bachelor's/master's internship for duration of 6 months or maximum 12 months, for minimum 3 days onsite per week. Starting in September 2025.

Students from any background are welcome to apply however this role is best suited for a someone studying a technical degree and who is passionate about backend software development and data engineering in python. To be a fit, you preferably have:

• Experienced in Python, Flask, and SQL (familiarity with Perl, Java, and JavaScript is a plus).
• Comfortable working with various Linux flavors.
• Knowledge of CICD is a plus; Gitlab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
• Analytical, proactive, and a natural problem solver.

Other requirements you need to meet:

• You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
• You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;
• If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
