Bizzen is building the AI chief-of-staff for small businesses: a vertical, voice-powered operating system initially focused on construction and home services. Leveraging proprietary data and AI agents, our workflow automates back-office tasks from intake to invoice: phone-based project intake, customer diligence, AI-vision-enabled notetaking, estimate/invoice/contract generation, payment collection, financial automation, and more. Bizzen customers are saving $50k+ and realizing 50%+ reductions in back-office time, helping reclaim part of the $1.6T lost annually to construction inefficiency in America.
We're a small and talent-dense team in Cambridge. Our founder, Jordan Hayashi, is a Harvard dropout and 3x founder who built and taught Harvard's mobile app development course, and was Head of Product and Engineering at Kensho, an AI research lab that dethroned DeepMind as the largest AI acquisition at the time. The team includes other leaders from Kensho and Corvus Insurance (acq. Travelers).
An engineer who's genuinely curious about our customers, moves fast, and would rather figure things out than wait to be told what to do. Someone who's humble enough to know what they don't know, but confident enough to push back when they think we're wrong. Most of our roadmap is driven by customer requests, and the best people here are excited by that.
Experience matters, but it's not the whole story. AI has changed what a great engineer can accomplish, and we care more about how you think than how long you've been doing it. Our engineers average over a decade of experience, and are humble enough to treat AI as the most powerful tool in their arsenal.
You'll work directly with our founder and early team on the core product and growth experiments. That means shipping features that real contractors use in the field, building AI agents that handle complex back-office workflows, and helping define the technical direction of the company. The full team has direct exposure to customers. You'll learn from our customers, understand their problems, and build solutions.
In practice, that means building LangGraph agents that handle admin tasks, iterating on the React Native app contractors use in the field, and building features like realtime payments. You'll own work end to end, across the full stack.
We're a very small team in Cambridge (Porter Square). We expect engineers to be in the office most days: we do our best work together, and we're building a culture that reflects that. Engineers are typically online nights and weekends and are here because the problem space genuinely excites them.
There's no product manager. Engineers own features end to end, from scoping to shipping, and have direct, frequent contact with customers. It's common to hear about a customer problem in the morning and ship the feature the same day. Designers are available to collaborate and can be pulled in as needed, but engineers are expected to drive the work.
We have a clear two-year vision and a hazy six-month plan. What you work on tomorrow is largely on you to figure out, with support when you need it. Priorities can shift fast: a new customer need or a GTM-critical initiative can reorient the week's focus overnight. Comfort with that kind of whiplash is important.
The culture values hunger, intensity, curiosity, humility, and a genuine interest in solving real problems for real people. If the mission resonates with you, the effort required will feel natural. If it doesn't, this probably isn't the right fit.
