About the Role
As a Maintenance Software Engineer C++ in the Telematics team you will have the opportunity to work on innovative software for automotive industry. Telematics exposes the internal car ecosystem to the Internet: the car becomes an element of the Internet of Things (IoT), offering a new level of access to car’s functionalities and a platform to build additional features in areas such as safety, security, comfort.
You are responsible for the Platform SW and External SW Components and are the main specialist for these topics in our maintenance projects.
What You Will Do
- Analyze customer requirements allocated to software and map them to new or existing software architectures.
- Evaluate and document the software architecture and present it to internal management, sales representatives, and at customer meetings.
- Manage the implementation of the software architecture with local and remote development teams.
- Ensure alignment with the strategic goal of platformization of software components
- Perform technical analysis and assessment of customer requirements (RFC, RFI, RFQ).
- Resolve inconsistencies in unclear technical requirements through direct communication with the customer.
- Consider Harman processes, Automotive SPICE, and functional safety requirements.
- Review HDD and DDD and verify them against product features, ensuring requirements traceability.
- Act as the main contact person internally and towards the customer for evaluation of new concepts.
- Provide impact analysis for design changes and accurate estimates for time and cost of customer-specific requirements.
- Develop and test software components (white-box testing) based on design documentation.
- Analyze malfunctions regarding response time, stability, robustness of components, and overall system behavior.
- Identify and predict root causes of reported system issues.
- Act as a technical expert and consultant for the assigned area, advising customers on best practices.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers.
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and in-car software development processes.
- Monitor development status and software quality through design and code reviews.
- Perform bug fixing and maintenance tasks for delivered software components.
What You Need to Be Successful
- At least 4+ years of experience as a software developer
- Automotive experience
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other relevant (IT connected) specializations
- Good knowledge of C++
- Linux expertise
- Experience in developing embedded applications
- Good knowledge about cryptographic algorithms
- Good knowledge about memory-protection techniques
- Experience with OpenSSL, TLS
- Experience with SomeIP, CAPI, DBus, TCP, UDP protocols
- Software Update
- System Functions (Diagnostics, DTCs)
- AUTOSAR expertise (software components, RTE, BSW)
- Knowledge in inter-process communication, threading, socket communication
- Working knowledge of software development processes
- Debug/Remote debug usinf software or hardware debuggers
- Working knowledge of embedded operating systems
- Design processes or components (HDD,CDD)
- Define and create unit tests
- Good English skills in spoken and written English
