Maxar is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing team in Melbourne, FL or Herndon, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Take algorithm definitions and prototypes and convert them into robust software applications that run efficiently on large images and are ready for operational environments.
- Apply software standards and processes to produce high quality, extensible, and maintainable software packages.
- Collaborating with our technical experts to solve issues and iterate to improve efficiency and reduce technical debt
- Build and improve on automated test and verification software and tools.
- Design robust software systems for integration of existing signal processing tools.
- Debug, refactor and reimplement existing software codebases into new systems and on new platforms
- Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle, including planning, requirements development, software design, implementation and build, documentation, testing, deployment and maintenance
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizen able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance with required Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technology fields
- 3+ years of experience in related fields
- Programming skills in Python and/or C++
- Version control experience in Git (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket)
- Experience in implementing software using mathematical solutions
Desired Qualifications:
- 7+ years software and image processing experience
- Experience with formal software development methodologies (Agile)
- Experience writing software implementing algorithms
- Background or experience with orbital dynamics
- Background or experience with image processing

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $88,000.00 - $146,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
