The Role
As a Software Engineer focused on backend and data systems at Flume Health, you will design and build robust backend systems that handle complex data integrations and transaction processing. Leveraging your experience with Go, Python, and distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and Dataproc, you will develop scalable solutions for managing and transforming healthcare data. With a focus on healthcare integrations, you’ll contribute to building tools and systems that simplify and enhance data workflows in a compliance-heavy environment.
What You’ll Do
- Help design, develop, and maintain backend systems with a focus on transaction processing, data accessibility, and integrations.
- Build and optimize distributed data processing pipelines using Apache Spark and Google Cloud Dataproc to handle real-time and batch data workflows.
- Develop tools and systems for healthcare data integrations, including claims, eligibility, and EDI standards.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional team to define and execute features and capabilities that align with business goals.
- Optimize backend systems for scalability, reliability, and performance in cloud-based environments.
- Assist in defining and advocating for internal standards and best practices.
- Ensure data security and compliance, particularly in handling healthcare data.
What You’ll Need
- 3+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable and distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in Go, with experience designing and implementing backend services.
- Experience working with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark and Google Cloud Dataproc.
- Familiarity with healthcare industry data, such as claims, eligibility, and EDI standards.
- Solid experience with Python, particularly in data processing or integration tasks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud and containerized environments like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Proven ability to design tools and systems to streamline data integration workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate and clarify ambiguous technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in compliance-heavy environments, particularly in healthcare or finance.
- Prior experience building tools for healthcare data integrations.
- Experience tuning and optimizing distributed data processing systems for performance and reliability.
