Overview of Responsibilities: 
The Software Engineer will design, code, and test system control software. The role involves applying engineering principles for creating robust, modular software components, managing version control, and overseeing audit procedures. The individual will use their extensive experience, creativity and latitude to achieve goals, potentially lead teams, and collaborate across departments to advance our control software development.
Key Job Elements: 

  • Develop software strategy for continued growth of KDF Technologies system strategy 
  • Utilize and leverage commercially available components when practical 
  • Integrate a modular design philosophy which allows all KDF Technologies systems to be run from a common source code
  • Develop source code to control our vacuum equipment automation using languages such as Visual Basic, C, C#, Visual Studio and Rockwell Factory Talk Products 
  • Install control system source code onto new computers 
  • Validate operation of control software on system builds
  • Ensure reliability, efficiency, safety, and functionality of the automated systems
  • Troubleshoot, fine-tune the logic and functionality of the PLC programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop Human Machine Graphical Interfaces (HMI)
  • Develop recipe engine and database 
  • Write/modify operations manuals for software 
  • Load operating systems and configure new computer hardware 
  • Train customers and test personnel on control software 
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 
Required 

  • Minimum 5 years experience in automation software design,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Expert level skills in software architecture and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) automation software, coding languages and associated hardware
  • Expert in Visual Basic, C, C#, Visual Studio and Rockwell Factory Talk Products 
  • Knowledgeable with Ethernet I/P, Telnet, RS232/485 and Modbus

Preferred 

  • Detailed knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with multi-processor networked control systems 
  • Experienced creating animated graphics for HMI applications
