SOFTWARE ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY: MCSG is seeking a Software Engineer to review current systems and present ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals. Work closely with analysts, designers, customers, and staff. Produce detailed specifications and write program code. Test the product in controlled, real situations before going live. Prepare training manuals for users. Maintain systems once they are up and running. Location: Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 

PRIMARY DUTIES: 

• Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. 

• Analyze and clarify business requirements to implement server-side business logic and UI. 

• Demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code. 

• Design, develop, unit/integration test, and build software code to provide new functionality and extend/modify legacy existing code; using object-oriented software methodologies. 

• Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle. 

• Administrative and development knowledge with relational databases. 

• Provides database software support to include Structured Query Language (SQL) and Microsoft Access® for the maintenance of new and existing database applications to include modification of database applications, updating technical and user documentation and provide training to users and client support administrator on the modifications. 

• Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. 

• Provide ongoing application maintenance and support. 

• Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues. 

• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools and programming techniques; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations. 

REQUIREMENTS:  

• Knowledge building and maintaining cloud systems 

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines 

• Ability to communicate highly technical concepts effectively and concisely to non-technical personnel 

• Full-Stack Competency abilities to create and connect front-end user interfaces smoothly with backend services and database layers. 

• Version Control & Collaboration proficiency with Git and GitHub/GitLab for collaborative workflows and code reviews. 

• Knowledge of testing libraries like Jest, Mocha, or Supertest for unit and integration testing.  

• Experience using JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript. 

• Frontend experience using modern frameworks like React, Angular or Vue.js. Experience with React component libraries like MaterialUI. 

• Backend experience using Node.js (preferred), Java, or Python. 

• Database experience using relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server. 

• Practical ORM / Query Builders experience using modern Object-Relational Mappers such as Drizzle or Prisma. 

• Experience mentoring junior engineers 

• IAT L2 Cetification

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 10 years experience in software engineering.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: TS/SCI
