We are seeking a high-achieving developer to join our Offensive Security Operations team (OSO). This role will focus on automating processes and building tools to drive down cyber security risk. You will have the opportunity to innovate, build for the future, and make a direct impact on our security landscape! 


OSO conducts internal security testing exercises and leads key initiatives to identify and mitigate cyber security risks. However, to improve our business-as-usual activities, we require additional automation and custom tooling. Your contributions will be critical in streamlining operations, automating high impact security checks, and supporting the team’s long-term success. 


Our environment is cloud-native, primarily AWS based with a mature development ecosystem and well-established standards. 


 Responsibilities  

  • Gather user requirements, decipher the needs and expectations of internal and external customers, and translate them into effective solution designs. 
  • Maintain regular communication with partners, providing updates and collecting feedback for continuous improvement. 
  • Implement and deliver solutions within agreed timeframes. 
  • Fully test services including unit tests and user acceptance tests.  
  • Provide full documentation ensuring there are appropriate artefacts for maintaining, extending and using your work in your absence. 
  • Ensure all services align with LSEG security standards, team quality controls, and validated approaches. 
  • Collaborate with partner teams to integrate security measures into all stages of the development lifecycle and existing tooling. 
  • Continuously evaluate and improve quality and security processes, policies and documentation based on lessons learned and industry developments where possible through automation. 
  • Communicate sophisticated technology concepts and solutions clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and documentation. 
  • Demonstrate strong active listening skills and provide constructive feedback to colleagues and partners 

Required Experience & Skills 


Required Qualification: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems / Technology, Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent field of study. 

Core technical skills 

  • Proven experience in crafting design documents 
  • Proven experience with Python 3.7+ and VueJS 2 or 3 
  • Proven experience with API Development (Flask API or any) 
  • Proven experience with CLI tool development (Cleo or any) 
  • Proven experience with Unit testing / Integration / Behavioral testing 
  • Proven experience in maintaining complete software development lifecycle 
  • Proven experience with IaC technology to maintain cloud infrastructure 
  • Proven experience with setting up and managing resources in cloud hosting solutions (AWS preferred) 
  • Proven experience with PowerShell and/or Bash Scripting 
  • Proven experience with containerisation 
  • Solid exposure to different software architectures  
  • Proven experience with RDBMS databases or NoSQL, preferably with MySQL/PostgreSQL or similar 
  • Proven experience with Git repository management - we use Gitlab / Git 
  • Proven experience with Static analysis tooling 
  • Proven experience with CI / CD 
  • Any knowledge of Azure / Graph API Is a bonus 
  • Good understanding of UI/UX 

Required Professional Attributes and Demeanour 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail (comfortable investigating issues on production) 
  • Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities and common software engineering flaws.  
  • Comfortable with Agile practices (Daily standups, retros, demoes) 
  • A disliking for silo operations 
  • Comfortable with demoes showcasing progression of work. 
  • Evidence driven, methodical and incremental approach over future proofing approach 
  • Proficiency with designing software and discussing with collaborators over contributing a solution to code 
  • Great teammate and able to self-organise is vital 
  • Proactive over reactive 
  • Estimation, Planning and maintenance of the backlog 
  • Comfortable exploring and adopting out of the box solutions including outside of immediate expertise.
