Qualis, LLC is looking for a full-time Software Engineer to work in the Space Domain (SDA) and Missile Warning (MW) mission areas. This position will be filled in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities
The Software Engineer is responsible for the research, design, and development of software in conjunction with hardware interfaces. This position is primarily responsible for the design and development of software products for a variety of software applications and participates throughout the software development life cycle.
The Software Engineer applies proficient knowledge of software engineering, computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles to the development of software for target applications. The position works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and evaluate hardware/software interfaces, operational performance requirements, and overall system design.
The Software Engineer will be a self-starter who works well both in teams and independently. They will have strong communication skills and robust attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-accountability. Additional responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Perform research, design, and development of computer software systems in conjunction with hardware product development.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including: Requirements analysis, Software design, Implementation, Integration and Software testing
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for target applications, including scenario execution, coordinate transformations, state propagation, and data capture and storage.
- Analyze software requirements and translate requirements into appropriate software designs and implementations.
- Develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, including radio-frequency (RF) hardware control and simulation-time synchronization.
- Evaluate operational performance requirements in support of overall system design.
- Support the design and development of integrated hardware and software systems, including service startup and shutdown, health monitoring, configuration, and licensing controls.
- Develop software test procedures and document test results against software requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain software programs.
- Develop and maintain software-related technical documentation.
- Support software integration and testing activities.
- Identify and resolve software-related technical issues throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to determining, estimating, and validating the cost and scope of software development efforts.
- Support software development activities to ensure work is performed within established program cost, schedule, and technical constraints.
- Coordinate software engineering activities with hardware, systems, test, and other engineering disciplines.
- Contribute to browser-based operator interfaces for scenario configuration, 3D visualization, live target-data streams, and system status.
- Implement and test assigned integrations with radar and communication models and external application programming interfaces (APIs), including message handling, network interfaces, and data conversion.
- Support automated builds and tests, use software-analysis tools, and help resolve software vulnerabilities and server-configuration findings.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Experience working with government customers including the USAF and USSF
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or two years of post-secondary education/Associate Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Hands-on experience developing and integrating software, performing verification and testing, and troubleshooting hardware/software interfaces.
