Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Software Engineer, you should have experience with:

  • Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
  • Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
  •  Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Strong hands-on experience in manual/automation functional testing, regression testing, and end‑to‑end validation.
  • Hands-on experience to support QA automation.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks for: Web (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress), API (Karate, RestAssured, Cucumber).
  • Strong experience writing: Unit tests, integration tests, and automated regression suites.
  • Solid understanding of: BDD, Test design techniques, test coverage, and defect lifecycle.
  • Strong experience with GitLab/Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and test execution automation.
  • Hands-on scripting or development experience in Java or Python (ability to support dev teams when needed).
  • Understanding of relational DB or NoSQL DB and PL/SQL and experience with Unix systems
  • Experience working with API tools such as Postman, Insomnia, Swagger, or similar.
  • Minimum Qualification – bachelor’s degree.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Knowledge of Payments systems.
  • Knowledge of microservices testing, event-driven systems, and messaging middleware.
  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools: AppDynamics (or similar).
  • Experience supporting non-production environments and test environment triage.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and ability to work across global teams.
  • Ability to drive quality strategy and promote automation-first culture.
  • Strong time-management and ability to handle multiple, parallel workstreams.
