As a Software Engineer at Upwards, you’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional services to our users.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Collaborate with backend engineers, designers, and product managers to build and enhance web features.
  • Architect and maintain frontend codebases for scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Resolve operational issues to ensure smooth system performance across the platform.
  • Work within an agile team to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions.
  • Write clean, efficient code using modern technologies like HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs and JSON to create dynamic, data-driven features.
  • Build responsive, SEO-friendly pages optimized for various devices and screen sizes.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical discussions.

You’ll Excel in This Role If You:

  • Have 3-5+ years of experience building modern web applications with HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript.
  • Are skilled in building component-driven UIs with React and state management tools like Redux.
  • Write type-safe, scalable code using TypeScript.
  • Have experience with jQuery for legacy support when needed.
  • Understand RESTful APIs, JSON integration, and building SEO-friendly, performant web apps.
  • Are familiar with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), testing tools (Selenium, Jest, React Testing Library), and application monitoring services (Sentry, Datadog).
  • Have experience with PHP or are open to working with PHP-based backend services.
  • Take pride in writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
  • Enjoy collaborating with teams and documenting processes.
  • Are a proactive learner, staying current with frontend trends and best practices.
  • Are passionate about building applications that solve real-world problems, especially in marketplaces.
  • Have experience with Automated Acceptance/Functional Testing.
  • For Senior Engineers, you're ready to lead architectural discussions.
