Software Engineer - Test

Job Overview:

As a software engineer specializing in testing, you will work as part of a team to develop automated tests while also performing manual testing validation of Plex features. You will have a direct impact on the product quality of feature delivery that our users expect across multiple platforms and aspects of our various Plex products.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with other testers and engineers to define overall test strategy
• Execute manual validation of features and releases on a regular basis
• Develop new automated tests using TypeScript that target native (iOS, Android, and more) and web applications
• Triage automated test failures to determine initial findings
• Contribute new functionality to existing automation frameworks

What you bring to the table

• You have 3+ years of experience testing customer-facing products that include a blend of manual and automated testing
• You have professional experience developing automated tests for native applications by using developer technologies such as object oriented programming, Git, CI/CD workflows, etc.
• You are passionate about leveraging test automation to augment manual testing activities
• You are familiar with the process of troubleshooting and isolating software defects to improve the overall quality of bugs written
• You are detail-oriented and can focus on delivering seamless, high quality media products that include audio and video playback
• You are kind, humble, helpful and enjoy getting stuff done
• You are intrinsically motivated, able to manage your time, and enjoy working with a distributed team across the globe
• You believe in asking for help and helping others when they ask, never throwing a problem over the wall
• You are hungry to have an impact, continuously working to improve our product, process and push the team to be its best

Remote Work

• Plex hires new team members in countries around the world. 
• As such, Plex does not sponsor employment visas.
• All of our roles are remote, however some roles may carry specific location-based eligibility requirements. Our hiring team can help answer any questions about location after starting the recruiting process. 
• Also, please note, though we largely work asynchronously, as it relates to meetings, those generally occur between UTC 1600 to UTC 1900

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US and Global geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $75,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $95,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, seniority, local currency and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
