The Role
As a Software Engineer in Test, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the excellence of our digital health platform. You will collaborate with our platform and product delivery teams to enable automated testing and high-quality software delivery at speed. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the quality assurance program (prioritizing automation, but pragmatic about when to deploy manual testing) of our software. The ideal candidate is eager to tackle complex technical problems with solutions that scale, while obsessing over the next action we could take to level up the quality of our platform and products.
Location: Remote, San Francisco
What you’ll do
- Assess current state and build a Quality roadmap, then lead the design and implementation of improved quality strategies and technical frameworks
- Drive adoption of test frameworks, test data management, and other Quality tools through collaboration, consulting, training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement and learnings from process metrics.
- Collaborate with our service, mobile and web teams to ensure safety during code changes and releases.
- Evolve our existing tooling toward standardized, scalable testing solutions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure high-quality software.
- Leverage metrics to drive continuous improvement of testing practices.
- Continuously seek and embrace opportunities to build upon your skills and knowledge
- Strongly advocate for product quality, security, performance, and patient safety.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering with 3 years of experience in quality engineering.
- Gained expertise implementing and optimizing automated testing tools and frameworks (JUnit, pytest, Selenium, etc.) including driving adoption of those across teams of engineers.
- Gained a deep understanding of QA methodologies and the ability to develop clear, concise test plans and test cases.
- Acquired expertise through hands-on work in the areas of CI/CD pipelines, automated test, test data management, release management, and roll forward and rollback release safety.
- Worked within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Shown clear, consistent communication skills: in code, in discussion, and in writing.
- Developed a track record for testing and shipping complex software.
- Been energized at the prospect of working on software that improves people's lives
Bonus points for:
- Prior leadership role in the QA domain and active participation in software development.
- Experience testing iOS, React, and React Native applications.
- Experience with the security policies and practices of HIPAA/HITECH-compliant infrastructure or in similar regulated environments.
- Experience advising on security risks on both the client and server side (tokens, information logs).
- Familiarity with SQL and database testing.
