The Software Integration Team (SWIT) Threat Environment Engineer plans, integrates, conducts, and supports development of high‑fidelity, real‑time simulation capabilities integrating radar‑emitter models, RF propagation, and mission‑level software.
The engineer designs, implements, documents, tests, and debugs software that delivers logical and technical solutions for joint‑force training and mission‑planning tools.
In addition to design and debugging, the engineer diagnoses and resolves program errors, produces operating instructions, and compiles documentation while analyzing system capabilities to meet intent, output, and data‑acquisition requirements.
Applying Lockheed Martin standards and leveraging deep knowledge of RTOS, radar/EM modeling, and simulation frameworks, the engineer builds robust, maintainable applications and guarantees strict adherence to software and security standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain a joint‑simulation environment implementation that incorporates real‑time operating systems, RF emitter (radar) models, and constructive/virtual simulation integration.
- Design, implement, and validate radar‑mode algorithms (continuous‑wave, pulse‑Doppler, FMCW, etc.), sweep patterns, and target‑track generation.
- Integrate simulation environment and plug-ins with mission system software ensuring deterministic timing and low‑latency data exchange.
- Own CI/CD pipelines for code, automate regression testing, and verify real‑time performance.
- Work closely with RF engineers, system architects, and mission system software engineers to translate operational requirements into simulation capabilities.
- Participate in daily scrums, sprint reviews, and technical demos; provide status updates and risk assessments to leadership.
Why This Role Is Exciting
- Influence the development of joint‑force training tools that directly support mission‑critical aerospace programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—RF engineers, avionics developers, test pilots, and customer specialists.
- Apply cutting‑edge RTOS and radar‑modeling techniques to create world‑class simulation fidelity.
- Contribute to a high‑performing, multi‑program environment where each day presents a new technical challenge.
Who You Are
- Proven experience planning, prioritizing, and executing complex simulation projects.
- Strong communicator who can bridge software and domain‑specific (radar/EM) expertise.
- Passionate about solving difficult problems, learning emerging technologies, and delivering high‑quality results.
- Proven software development expertise in design, coding, and testing to support simulation tools and applications.
- Passion for travel and cultural exploration, fostering adaptability and a global perspective in collaborative engineering contexts.
